The beginnings of NGL with GALVEX 17.30

In 1978, NGL launched its first product, still on the market today, Galvex 17.30.

The eldest of the Galvex range, it was already unrivalled in its ability to degrease all polishing pastes and oils quickly and thoroughly in aqueous ultrasonic processes, while protecting against corrosion and enhancing the shine of parts. Nearly 10 years ahead of the Montreal Protocol, signed in 1987 by the European Community and 24 countries with the aim of eliminating the use of CFC products responsible for depleting the ozone layer, NGL offered an alternative to the chlorinated solvents widely used at the time for degreasing parts, particularly in watchmaking.

Despite already demanding specifications, NGL improved the Galvex range, then complemented it with the Helit finishing range, and Galvex 17.30 was developed to meet a number of applications:

  • Galvex 17.30 SNR, with improved anti-corrosion properties
  • Galvex 17.30 SUP, translucent bath and precious metal shine
  • Galvex 17.30 SPP, for removing glues and varnishes
  • Galvex 17.30 N, improved rinsability

Later, the Helit range improved rinsing without compromising on the above-mentioned qualities. In the second cleaning tank, known as the finishing stage, Helit also provides detergency and shine, while offering the same rinsability as an acid. Helit’s neutral pH provides a perfect finish for acid-sensitive metals.

Super Helit IC, on the other hand, rinses out even the most corrosion-sensitive materials perfectly, and is much appreciated by metal bracelet manufacturers for preventing the dreaded “seizing” phenomenon.

Finally, Galvex 18.01 has been added to the range to broaden the spectrum of applications. A genuine compromise between Galvex 17.30 and Helit, this product is compatible with virtually all watchmaking metals, offering equivalent efficacy and easy rinsing. Galvex 18.01 reduces the number of products needed and has a pH below 10, making it easier to transport, store and handle, while limiting the risk of damage to cleaned parts. A true “all-in-one” product, it has rapidly become the spearhead of the NGL range.

Reformulate for better durability

Until 2018, in compliance with REACH regulations, NGL registered some of its raw materials with the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), which raised the risk level of some of the substances present in these detergents.Although the risk is only “suspected” according to GHS labelling regulations, NGL has taken the initiative to offer products that are risk-free for operators and the environment.

That’s why, in 2015, NGL developed Galvex 20.01 dedicated to the medical sector: free of CMR compounds and substances covered by the latest European regulation on medical devices (MDR 2017/45). In 2018, Galvex 20.02 was born, whose degreasing power surpasses all previous NGL products. At the same time, several reformulations have enabled the removal of harmful compounds and the upgrading of products such as Rodaclean 2018 or Optical V.

Since 2021, NGL has eliminated more than 100 products, developed nearly a dozen new products, 3 of which will be launched during 2025, and intends to redouble its R&D efforts, to contribute to the improvement of its customers‘ CSR balance sheets, etc….
